Masterpiece Ragdolls Contract
By placing a deposit for a Ragdoll kitten with Masterpiece Ragdolls Cattery, Breeder, you, Buyer, agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, which you acknowledge that you have read and understood.
● The breeder guarantees that the cat being sold is a pedigree Ragdoll cat.
● Breeder is providing a spayed/neutered kitten, with an implanted microchip, and all age-appropriate vaccinations
● Pick up in Olympia, Washington or delivery to the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport is no additional charge. Kitten delivery will occur between 12 and 14 weeks old. Other pick-up and delivery options are available, with additional costs to the Buyer.
● Between the kitten’s 10th and 12th week, the Breeder will contact the Buyer via cell phone SMS (text messaging) and email to coordinate delivery or pick-up of the kitten, using contact information provided in the Buyer’s application. The breeder will make no fewer than four attempts to contact the Buyer during this period.
● Failure by the Buyer to respond within 48 hours to written communication from the Breeder concerning pick-up or delivery voids this contract and cancels the purchase of the kitten, regardless of the stage of the purchase process reached. Buyer forfeits all monies paid.
● KIttens not picked up or delivered by the 14-week birthday incur an additional $50 per day boarding fee (paid in advance) plus any fees that may be required to keep vaccines updated or for veterinary health care. The maximum time for boarding is 21 days. Kittens not picked up or delivered by their 16-week birthday revert to Masterpiece Ragdolls ownership. Buyer forfeits all monies paid.
● Reservation fees are non-refundable unless the breeder doesn’t deliver the kitten.
● The balance for the kitten will be due 14 days before delivery of the kitten or at pick-up. Final payments are paid in cash, Apple Cash, or via Venmo [friends only]. No other forms of payment are accepted.
PETS
The purchaser will receive TICA registration papers for the kitten no later than the kitten delivery or pick-up date. All documentation will be uploaded to the customer portal, accessible by the buyer once the payment for the kitten is received. This cat or kitten is purchased as a pet or show animal only. The breeder confers no breeding rights. The Buyer acknowledges that the kitten will be spayed or neutered before leaving the Cattery.
BREEDING KITTENS
● The buyer will receive TICA registration papers (with rights for breeding) for the kitten at the time of delivery.
● Fertility/willingness to breed guarantee: Breeder does not guarantee the fertility or the willingness of the cat that is being sold in this agreement. However, if the cat is unable to breed due to fertility issues, then the breeder will replace the kitten with another kitten of similar quality and same gender for a fee of 30% of the original purchase price paid. Fertility issues must be diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian and a written diagnosis of this condition provided to the Breeder. Unwillingness to mate must be documented through video with at least two different mates and once the cat has reached the age of at least 2 years old. Ragdoll cats are notoriously slow to mature. The fertility guarantee will be null and void if at any time the cat produces any number of kittens.
Health Check When Kitten Arrives Home
The Breeder guarantees that the kitten/cat is healthy to the best of his/her knowledge at the time the Buyer takes ownership of the kitten. The Buyer is advised to take this kitten/cat to a veterinarian for a complete health check within 72 business hours of delivery. If the cat/kitten is found to be unfit for sale due to a congenital or hereditary disorder, Buyer may opt for one of the following options:
1. Return the cat and receive a refund of the purchase price within 10 business days following receipt of a signed veterinary certification notating the congenital/hereditary disorder. No refunds will be issued for medical care.
2. Return the cat and receive an exchange cat of equivalent quality and value. The Buyer must notify the breeder within two business days after the veterinarian’s determination that the cat is unfit. The written certification of unfitness must be presented to the Breeder no later than three business days following receipt thereof by the Buyer.
*After 48 hours Breeder cannot be held accountable for FELV, FIV, or any other bacterial or viral infections, infectious diseases, parasites, or fungus due to the fact that these can be contracted anywhere in the environment after leaving the Cattery and are not a result of genetics or breeding.
Health Guarantees
● Kittens have a 5-year warranty from the date of birth or until the Cattery is closed, whichever occurs first, against all genetic, congenital, and idiopathic health conditions, including FIP. If any are found that ultimately result in the demise of the kitten the Breeder will replace the kitten within the next three litters after the Breeder receives proof of defect via a necropsy report from a licensed veterinarian. There must have been a reasonable amount of effort, as determined by the Breeder, taken by the Buyer to treat the condition and prevent the loss of life.
● If the kitten/cat is diagnosed with FIP early enough to allow for treatment (GS-441524), the breeder will contribute $500 towards treatment. Substantiated documentation, in the form of blood panel testing and/or invoices from treatment providers, is required.
● Deaths by accident or misadventure are not covered. These include but are not limited to eating something inappropriate, injury from another animal, self-injury, or any incident that occurs outdoors.
● Infectious diseases, including, but not limited to, URIs, FIV, FELV, chlamydia, and mycoplasma are not covered in this health guarantee.
● Buyer agrees all allergies (both human and feline) are the Buyer’s responsibility.
● It is highly recommended the buyer obtain health insurance for their kitten/cat.
● Adult cats and those retired from breeding are not covered by these health guarantees.
Buyer Responsibilities
● Buyer agrees to keep vaccinations and health checkups up-to-date, to provide a clean environment for the kitten, to never allow this cat to roam freely outdoors, to never place this cat in a laboratory or pet shop, and to never declaw the cat.
● Buyer agrees to learn the warning signs of FIP and work closely with his/her veterinarian in order to act quickly in the unlikely event your cat/kitten is diagnosed.
● Buyer agrees not to leave the kitten/cat home alone for more than 24 hours in a single incident. Buyer also agrees generally, the ragdoll cat requires human companionship.
● Purchasing a kitten from Masterpiece Ragdolls makes the buyer solely responsible for the health and well-being of the kitten from the day it arrives at home until the last day of its life. The breeder is not responsible for any veterinarian expenses, treatments, or medicines that may be required to improve the life of your kitten or cat. While every effort is made to ensure that we deliver a healthy and viable kitten, there is no way for us to predict the future health of any kitten. It is a living animal and there is always a risk that it may develop a health condition in the future.
● Purchaser understands that cats are predisposed to gingivitis and other gum diseases and will be proactive by caring for the gums of the kitten and cat into adulthood.
Breach Of Contract
● This contract is legally binding to all parties involved. The sales agreement is not transferable to other parties.
● Breach of this agreement will result in the cancellation of any warranties or guarantees of this kitten. The Breeder’s maximum liability to the Buyer for any and all losses, claims, damages, or liability of any kind shall be limited to the amount paid by the Buyer to the Breeder under this agreement. Any lawsuits pertaining to this agreement will be handled in the state of Washington, Thurston County. Refunds are at the Breeder’s discretion. The Breeder retains the final right to decide between refund of the purchase price or a replacement kitten.
● Breeder reserves the right to cancel this contract at any time before the kitten leaves the Cattery if the Breeder feels that it is in the best interest of the kitten and or the Breeder. In that instance, the Buyer will be refunded 100% of their deposit.
Rehoming Of The Kitten
Buyer agrees to inform the Breeder when contemplating rehoming a Masterpiece Ragdolls cat due to a change in life circumstances, including, but not limited to, death, divorce, allergies, or a change in financial status. The breeder agrees to include the cat in question in all marketing and sales communications to prospective Buyers, as deemed appropriate by the Breeder. The parties agree that the cat will stay at the Buyer’s home until the Breeder has found another approved home for the cat unless the Breeder determines that an immediate return to the Cattery is necessary. The Buyer may be asked to reasonably assist in the delivery of the cat to the Cattery or to its new home, at no cost to the Breeder. No refunds will be given to the Buyer in the event of rehoming.
By continuing, the Buyer agrees to the terms of the contract with the Breeder and wants to finalize the reservation of the kitten.
